One of the classes I have taken at Central focused on the History of Dress from Ancient Mesopotamia to today. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and was impressed by how dynamic and important fashion has been throughout the ages. While in this class, I became fascinated with the popular silhouette of the1870s, when the bustle was fashionable. I became so fascinated with this period that I decided to take part in a vintage fashion show in my area and create my own bustle dress. Using the knowledge I gained from my fashion history class, I was able to pattern and construct a petticoat complete with bustle structure and a skirt and jacket combo in the 1870s style.
